Irish
Pubs - you find them in Warsaw, Bratislava, Istanbul, St Petersburg and
even Dublin, so why not Great Barrier Island? We have been
established over 10 years and have rave reviews from food critics, travel
writers, guests and musicians. You are very welcome
at The Currach Irish Pub. We hope you find our atmosphere inviting -
as the Irish saying goes "Ceol, Caint agus Craic" - "music,
chat and good fun". |
| The
Currach is a traditional long and narrow boat, made of light wooden frames
and covered with hide. They are a light, fast and very seaworthy
boat, unique to the west coast of Ireland.
Our Currach, named An tOileanach (The Islander) was built here by three Irish Boatbuilders from
Dingle. After a stint at the National Maritime Museum, An tOileanach
is now a prominent display in the entrance to the Pub/restaurant. |

Musicians
are always welcome at the Currach Irish Pub. Every Thursday night we
have a jam session - a great place to meet some local talent (musical that
is!). Enjoy the friendly atmosphere, delicious food, a good
selection of
NZ beers and of course Guinness Stout and Kilkenny. We also offer a
wide range of exquisite Irish Whiskey’s. |

We are justifiably proud of our
food so please see our 'menu' page)
The bar offers a big screen for
viewing major sorting events in a small and friendly setting. |

The
Gallery is the original parlour of the old Blackwell homestead. This
separate dining area is available for intimate dining and
private functions. It seats 15 people, has an open fire and French
doors leading to our garden area. Please visit the Gallery and enjoy
the art exhibition of local artists. |
